Hashtag Wars and the Future

When I began writing blogs about the election and the fall out post-election, I never imagined some of the things I would have to look at in the process. Imagine my surprise when I opened Twitter to find a hashtag that belongs in the backroom of a dank and dirty video store. When it dawned on me that it was in regards to President-elect Trump, it made me sick to my stomach. Before you go on and on, again, I was not a fan of Trump’s or Clinton’s, but enough is enough.

There was no reason for #PizzaGate. It was unfounded and a ridiculous allegation with no proof at all. There are just as many reasons for #GoldenShower. There is no evidence of it and is ridiculous and unfounded. Each so-called story was fabricated to humiliate Clinton and Trump, respectively, because people have no idea that they were supposed to grow up by the time they turned 18, or 21 depending on how you look at it.

Why is it so hard to find adults between the Republican and Democrat parties? The name-calling at each other, the downright hatred and venom, fake news that people EAGERLY wait for day by day, more and more “news” sources that we can’t trust on a daily basis, and the disgusting prayers from some who hope the country will fail. What kind of sick mind wants their own country to fail?

I have been on this earth for over half a century now and have never seen such disrespectful behavior from a group of people who think they have the right. One has the right to behave that way because they put up with it for eight years. The other side has the right because that’s how their person was treated for eight years. There are so many people worried about saving the planet for their children and grandchildren, and I agree, but we forget that if we continue to swirl in the vortex, our children and grandchildren will be the ones who pay the ultimate price. So, stop it. Two-year-olds don’t behave this way on their worst day.

Here is what we know about that hashtag. We know that John McCain handed over a dossier to the FBI several months ago. We know that McCain says that he didn’t know what to do with it when it was handed to him, and that is why he gave it to the FBI. We also know that there is supposed to be a source, but there is no name with the source, therefore, there is no way to confirm anything about this supposed dossier. We also know that Buzzfeed decided it was a good story, though admitted that they had no source and no verification for the report. CNN repeated the story. Shame on both of them. There was no information to confirm it, no proof, and no one willing to say who the supposed source is. This is why the new hashtag caused a firestorm.

The only thing I can say about this is, grow up. Your children and grandchildren are watching you. If they aren’t watching you now, they will find all of these things in the future and what do you think they will think about you. Look in the mirror and tell yourself you want them to know you behaved this way. Be honest with yourself about it. How will you feel if your children and all the children in the future sees you participated in the hashtag wars, especially ones like this. If you think it is okay, then by all means, do what you want. The story has no basis in truth, drop it.
